Meet Amy

Amy has a degree in Sociology and International Relations, and worked for over 10 years in Global Affairs, specializing in International Children's Rights, advocating for youth voice in policy making, and indigenous rights. She worked with the Centre for Global Studies and sat on the UNESCO Sectoral Commission for Culture, Communication and Information where she developed strategies for local self awareness and sustainability through the arts and creative communications.

Amy has also worked in Education for over 15 years with teaching specialties in French, English and the Humanities. She has experience in both public and private education, and taught at the Vancouver Waldorf School in both Elementary and High School grade levels (all subjects), and at the Saltspring Centre School: Grade 2-4 B.C. curriculum, French and Music. Amy was the main camp facilitator in Spirit of Adventure Creative Arts camps for kids on Saltspring Island from 2020-2023.

Amy studies Yoga as a self development practice and has both managed and owned Yoga studios on Vancouver Island. Her certifications include: 200 hour Vinyasa training at Fernwood Yoga Den; 500 hour Moksha/Modo Yoga training; Advanced Vinyasa training with Natalie Rousseau; Trauma Sensitive Yoga; Yin Yoga; Acro Yoga; and Children's Yoga. She has facilitated specialty workshops, and yoga retreats for adults and youth. She has piloted a Yoga in the Classroom initiative on Saltspring, developing a model that is taught to ages from preschool to high school. Her programming includes working with indigenous collaborators, BIPOC awareness, and racial and gender equity so as to teach and practice wherever possible from a decolonialized approach.

Amy is a mother, has two dogs that keep her active!, and loves to adventure. She is committed to finding the connections between our yoga (or self inquiry) practice, our creative spirit, our relationships with one another, as well as with the natural world. Amy weaves joy and creativity into her approach, and invites us to explore the myriad creative ways to experience Self inquiry as nothing less than a GRAND adventure!
